・Cabramatta is located 25km west of central Sydney. South east Asian
immigrants, especially Chinese and Vietnamese, immigrated there during the
Vietnam War and developed a residential street during the 1980's.
・Unusually, the authorities designed an area development plan that included a
Chinatown, which is rather unique, given that Chinatowns are gerenally
formed more organically.
・The shopping street runs along John Street, which is surrounded 2 car parks
that are located to the east and to the west of Park Road.
・This is very characteristic of ethnic shopping streets in Australia, which have
developed in a car-oriented society.
・This area has been regarded as dangerous in the past. Recently, however, it
has become popular for Australians to wander through the ethnic restaurants
and cheap food shops.
